If you are searching for an NGO in Janakpur because you want to ask for help, propose a programme in your ward, or join one as a volunteer, here is the short answer before the detail. Shrijanshil Nepal is a non-profit organization in Nepal registered in Dhanusha District, with its office at Ganeshman Charnath–7. It is not inside Janakpur city, but it is in the same district and close enough that a team can run an activity in a ward and be back the same day. You can reach it on +977 9847688749 or +977 9844038280, or through the contact page. Nepali and Maithili are both fine on the phone.

Where this social organization in Janakpur’s district is based

Dhanusha has eighteen local levels: one sub-metropolitan city, eleven urban municipalities and six rural municipalities, with Janakpurdham as the district headquarters. Janakpur is also the capital of Madhesh Province, which is why most provincial and district offices a resident needs sit there.

Our work sits one step outside the city, in Ganeshman Charnath Municipality — eleven wards spread over roughly 244 square kilometres, formed in 2016 out of eleven former village development committees. That matters for anyone deciding whether to call us: this is a rural municipality in everything but name, and the work is tube wells, school courtyards, ward offices and tole gatherings, not an urban drop-in centre.

Which wards we cover, and how far we travel from Janakpur

We work across the eleven wards of Ganeshman Charnath, and we work through the ward office rather than around it, so that two organisations do not run the same camp in the same tole in the same month. A concrete example of what that looks like: a free cervical cancer screening camp at Dhanki Pokhari, Ganeshman Charnath–01, run with specialist gynaecologists and support from the Ministry of Health & Population, Madhesh Province.

  • Inside Ganeshman Charnath (wards 1–11): this is our standing coverage. Health camps, drinking water work, scholarships, women’s skill training, tree planting and youth programmes.
  • Elsewhere in Dhanusha: considered case by case, and only where a ward office, school or health post co-hosts and supplies the space and the local notice. We will say no rather than promise a date we cannot keep.
  • Inside Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City: the city has its own ward offices and its own health institutions, and they are a faster first stop for a city resident. We do not maintain a branch office in the Janakpur bazaar, and nobody should be collecting money in our name there.

A fuller account of the day-to-day work, ward by ward, is in what this NGO in Dhanusha actually does, and the full set of programmes is listed under the causes this charity in Nepal runs.

What a charity organization in Janakpur Nepal can and cannot take on

Most disappointed requests come from a mismatch of expectations, so here is the honest split.

What you needCan we help? What it actually depends on
A free health camp in your ward or schoolYesA co-host who provides a room, water and local notice, and a date far enough ahead to line up doctors and medicines
Tube-well water testing or a household filterYesWhich cluster of wards the testing round is covering that season
School costs for a child from a low-income familyPartlyGovernment scholarship quota is claimed first; school and ward verification required; support goes to the school, not as cash
A place in women’s skill trainingYes, when a batch runsBatch size and whether a trade has buyers within reach of the trainee
Tree planting, youth sports, drug-awareness activityYesA local group willing to keep it going after the event day
Cash for medical bills, loans, legal cases, foreign employmentNoWe are not a relief fund or an agency; the ward office and the district hospital are the right doors
A paid volunteer or internship placementNo fee, everWe do not sell placements. If anyone asks you for money to volunteer with us, that is not us

How a resident, school or ward secretary makes contact

  1. Phone first. +977 9847688749 or +977 9844038280. A two-minute call usually settles whether a request is something we can take on at all, which saves you writing an application for nothing.
  2. Or use the website. The contact form reaches the same people. Put a phone number in it; we almost always reply by calling.
  3. Then send a written निवेदन through the ward office or school. For anything involving a date, a venue and a crowd, the ward office needs to know it is happening anyway.

A request we can act on quickly contains: the ward number and tole name; what is actually needed; roughly how many households, women or students it concerns; one named contact person with a mobile number; a proposed month; and — this is the part people leave out — what the ward or school will supply. A room, drinking water, chairs, and someone to put out the notice two days before are worth more to a camp than money is.

How to verify us at the Dhanusha DAO before you trust us

Nobody should take an organisation’s word for its own legitimacy, including ours. Under the Associations Registration Act, 2034, no association may be established without registration, the registering authority is the Chief District Officer, and the management committee “shall have to submit each year the statements of accounts of its Association to the Local Authority, along with the report of the auditor.” That yearly filing is what separates a working organisation from a name on an old certificate.

Three checks a resident, donor or ward secretary can run:

  • Ask us for three papers. The registration certificate, the current year’s renewal, and the PAN certificate. They are kept at the office at Ganeshman Charnath–7 and can be seen there. Look at the renewal date, not the registration date.
  • Cross-check at the District Administration Office, Dhanusha, in Janakpur — 041-420510 or 041-420075, Sunday to Friday office hours. The DAO holds the district register of associations.
  • Ask the ward office. Ward secretaries in Ganeshman Charnath know which organisations have actually turned up. This is the check that cannot be faked with paper.

Two further registers exist and are worth knowing about. Affiliation with the Social Welfare Council, set up under the Social Welfare Act, 2049, is what governs organisations taking foreign or international assistance. The NGO Federation of Nepal, an umbrella body of several thousand member NGOs, runs district committees. Neither replaces the DAO certificate and renewal.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shrijanshil Nepal an office I can visit in Janakpur city?

No. The office is at Ganeshman Charnath–7 in Dhanusha, not in the Janakpur bazaar. Phone before travelling, because field days mean nobody is sitting at a desk.

Can I get direct financial help for a hospital bill or a family emergency?

No. We run programmes, not an individual relief fund. For medical costs, the ward office and the hospital’s own support desks are the right first stop, and the ward can also certify eligibility for government schemes.

I live in Janakpur and study there. Can I volunteer?

Yes, and there is no fee and no placement agent. Volunteers help with camp registration desks, data collection, school sessions and awareness activities. Call either number and say which weekends you are free.

Does requesting a health camp or training cost anything?

No. If anyone asks a ward, school or family for money to arrange a camp “through” us, treat it as a warning sign and call us directly.

How do I check any social organization in Janakpur, not just this one?

Ask for the registration certificate and this year’s renewal, check the name and number against the register at the District Administration Office in Janakpur, and ask one ward secretary in the area the organisation claims to work whether they have actually seen it.

If you have a request, send it

The most useful thing a ward secretary or head teacher near Janakpur can do is send a short written request naming the ward, the need and a contact number — that is how nearly every camp we have run started. Phone +977 9847688749 or +977 9844038280, or write through the contact page. If you would rather know who you are dealing with first, read about our non-profit organization in Nepal and then call.
