Free Cervical Cancer Screening Camp Brings Specialist Care to Dhanki Pokhari

On Sunday, 21 Ashadh 2083 (5 July 2026), Shrijanshil Nepal organised a free cervical (uterine) cancer screening and health camp for women at Dhanki Pokhari Primary School, Ganeshman Charnath Municipality–01, Dhanusha. The camp was conducted with the support of the Ministry of Health & Population, Madhesh Province Government, Janakpurdham, and ran from 8:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the afternoon.

Why this camp matters

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in Nepal, yet it is largely preventable when detected early. For many women in rural Dhanusha, specialist check-ups mean travelling long distances at a cost their families cannot easily afford — so early symptoms often go unchecked. By bringing specialist gynaecologists and obstetricians directly to the village, the camp made early screening possible for women who might otherwise never receive it.

What happened at the camp

From early morning, women from Dhanki Pokhari and surrounding wards arrived at the school grounds to register. Throughout the day, specialist doctors provided free screening, examinations and one-to-one counselling on reproductive health, while our volunteers managed registration, guided participants through each step and supported the medical team.

Our thanks

We are grateful to the Ministry of Health & Population, Madhesh Province Government, for supporting this initiative, to the specialist doctors who volunteered their day, and to the local community of Ganeshman Charnath–01 for their warm participation. Camps like this are only possible when government, health professionals and communities work together.

Shrijanshil Nepal remains committed to bringing essential health services closer to the communities that need them most. More health camps are being planned — follow our events page for announcements.
