Scam or safe? Test yourself

Here are eight messages like the ones people in Nepal receive every day. For each one, decide whether it is a scam or safe. You'll see the warning signs after every answer. Takes about 3 minutes.

All names, numbers and links below are made up for training. Nothing is recorded.

The 5 signs almost every scam shares

  1. Urgency or fear - "account blocked in 24 hours", "police case filed", "last chance".
  2. Something too good to be true - a prize you never entered, a job abroad with no interview.
  3. A request for an OTP, PIN, password or a "small fee".
  4. A link or app you're told to open instead of the official app you already use.
  5. Pressure to keep it secret or to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or a private call.

Already lost money or been hacked?

Call your bank or wallet provider immediately to block the account, then report it to the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau. Our step-by-step reporting guide lists what evidence to keep and who to contact.
